Which Clopay Models This Applies To

Clopay doesn’t manufacture its own opener brains. Clopay-branded openers are built on LiftMaster and Chamberlain chassis, which means the logic board inside is a LiftMaster or Chamberlain board with a Clopay label on the housing. That’s good news for Poway homeowners, because it means replacement boards for Clopay units are widely available and we carry the common ones. The board compatibility is determined by the opener’s drive type: chain drive, belt drive, or screw drive. Within those, you’ll usually see model prefixes like 100, 200, 300, or 1100 on the motor housing label. Take a photo of the label before you call us. The board part number starts with 41A or 41C on most Clopay openers built after 2005. Older units, especially those with green learn buttons, use boards that are no longer manufactured. For those, we source tested refurbished OEM boards rather than gamble on a cheap aftermarket that dies in eight months.

One gotcha worth knowing: a Clopay logic board is not interchangeable across drive types even when the connectors look identical. The firmware calibration for belt-drive travel limits differs from chain-drive units, and using the wrong one can burn the travel module in a week. Signs Your Clopay Opener Logic Board Is Failing

• The opener won’t respond to any remote or keypad, but the wall button still works. This is the classic receiver-side failure on the logic board. The wireless receiver module is soldered onto the board, and when it goes, the wired controls keep working while every remote in the house goes dead.
• The opener light flickers or flashes a diagnostic code but the motor won’t engage. Clopay openers use LED blink patterns to signal board-level faults. A repeating five-blink pattern usually points to a failed RPM sensor circuit, not the sensor itself.
• Both remotes and the wall button stopped working after a power outage. The surge protection on these boards is minimal, and a hard restart after an outage is often the moment the weakened board finally quits.
